January 24th and 25th- We will take a practice STAAR test.
Students need to bring 3 interesting, cool rocks to school by Thursday. These rocks can come from their front yard.
READING:
Mon: We will go over the released Staar passages and questions together.
Tues: Math Staar Practice Test
Wed: Reading Staar Practice Test
Thurs: Science: We will begin a study on Rocks by reading the book A Pebble in my Pocket. We will look at different items that are made from rocks. Students will bring 3 rocks to examine and compare.
S.S.- TFK: Who Will Win? We will read and discuss the articles. Students will play a Smart Board game to review information and then answer 10 comprehension questions on a worksheet.
Fri: Watch the eyewitness movie: Rocks and Minerals. We will read Topic 1 in our Science book: Looking Under Your Feet. Students will complete a Study Guide after we read.
AR Goal: 5 total points, 1 chapter book, 70% or above, on their reading level.

Students will learn how to identify interjections and Possessive Noun Adjectives.
We will study homonyms.

Timed Multiplication tests are will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays over the number they are on. They have to the end of this six weeks to memorize all the facts through 9.

Citizenship: Grades and any folder pulls will be on the Discipline sheet in your child's binder.
Sign binders every Thursday night. I will write the grade in on Friday morning. Each folder pull is 5 points off the citizenship grade.
Friday afternoons: Payday Students who have an A in citizenship (90 or above) will get to participate in a fun activity the last 30 minutes of Friday.
Fun Friday: last Friday of the six weeks. We will do something special for students who have an 85 or better six weeks average in citizenship.
Handwriting: Each day your child has a quick H.W. practice to complete. In third grade we just practice what has been taught in 2nd grade. H.W. packets are due on Fridays.
I do not have separate times for Social Studies, Science. I incorporate these subjects into the Reading time slot.
